«Look for alternate routes» I-70 in Kansas City closed

Missouri transportation officials say drivers must find alternate routes during the major interstate closure.

Starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Kansas City will completely close eastbound and westbound I-70 east and I-35 in the northeast corner of the downtown loop.

Both directions of I-70 are expected to be closed over the weekend and reopen on Monday 23 August at 5:00 a.m.

The interstate closure will allow crews to repair the road surface.

Several ramps will also be closed over the weekend, including:

• The ramp from southbound MO Route 9 to northbound I-35.
• The ramp from southbound U.S. 169 to northbound I-35.
• The ramp from Sixth St. to northbound I-35.
• The ramp from Independence Ave. to southbound I-35.
• The ramp from southbound MO Route 9 to southbound I-35.
• The ramp from Delaware St. to southbound I-35.
• The ramp from northbound U.S. 169 to southbound I-35.
• The ramp from northbound I-35 to eastbound I-70.
• The ramps from Broadway to eastbound and westbound I-70
• The ramp from Beardsley to westbound I-70.
• The ramp from 5th St. to westbound I-70.
