Daimler recalls thousands of trucks due to hazard warning lights

April 5, 20230

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling more than 24,000 2020-2021 Freightliner Cascadia trucks due to the warning lights problem.

On recalled trucks, the hazard warning lights may flash incorrectly during an “extended brake assist” event. Therefore, these vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”.

An improperly flashing hazard warning light can confuse other drivers and increase the risk of an accident.

On recalled vehicles, during certain “extended brake assist” events that require full emergency braking to avoid a collision, the hazard warning lights may activate automatically in the moments just before the vehicle comes to a complete stop and flash at a rate of 140 flashes per minute.

Dealers will update the warning lights management software free of charge.

Notifications are expected to be mailed out on May 19th. For Freightliner recalls, please contact Daimler Trucks customer service at 800-547-0712 with recall number FL851.

The NHTSA recall number is 23V-208.
