One of main problems in trucking industry fell off

November 10, 20220

Back in the spring, there was an opinion about the insufficient occupation of professional drivers in the trucking industry. However, data for October showed the opposite trend.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the trucking sector created 13200 offers for truckers in October, up 7100 from September.

With the revision of September data and then a further increase in October, trucking employment in October was 1 601 100, almost 20 000 more than a month ago.

The indisputable advantage of cargo transportation is the high financial component. ATA data released in 2022 showed that a year ago, the average trucker received more than seventy thousand dollars, including various bonuses – and this is almost 20% more than in 2019.

The BLS recently released the following data:

• Motivation in the trucking industry continued to rise: for all workers in the trucking sector, it increased from $29,50 to $29,70.

• For production and non-management employees, it increased even more, from $27,88 to $28,21.

All these figures show that those who want to take a good place in the cargo transportation niche today have every chance. However, as in any field, you must first undergo specialized training.

To drive commercial vehicles, drivers are required to have a special driver’s license – Commercial Driver License (CDL). There are three CDL classes that define the types of vehicles that a trucker is allowed to drive: class A, class B, and class C. The CDL classification is also determined by gross vehicle weight (GVWR) and other specific requirements.

A CDL license can be obtained by completing learning at a training center or a specialized online platform, which includes Pre Trip Inspection, Air Brake and In-Cab Inspection. Following the successful completion of the online course, a practical driving course will follow with experienced trainers who will advise and help in any situation.
