53-mile toll road now open in Texas
The 53-mile section of State Highway 99 is now open to traffic, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The section of SH 99 from Interstate 69 near New Caney to Interstate 10 at Mont Belvieu and from Beach City to SH 146 in Baytown is officially open for traffic as of Thursday, May 19 at noon.
Tolls on these sections will be waived until Saturday, May 21st. After that, tolls on SH 99 from I-69 to I-10 will be $8.51 for a passenger car and $42.55 for a semi-trailer.
The cost is expected to change annually.
