A new Oklahoma law aims to make written tests for CDL easier.

The law came into force on November 1 and is aimed at solving the problem of truckers` shortage.

Service Oklahoma will now be able to enter into agreements with third parties to administer the written part of the CDL test. It also gives it the authority to administer the CDL written exam at any public or private facility.

The legislation is expected to increase the number of certified examiners in the state, as well as create more places to take CDL tests.

Written tests can now be administered by public or private commercial establishments, public transportation agencies, government agencies, and the Oklahoma DCTEA.

The explanation states. that local educational districts, the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (DCTEA), colleges, or private organizations may hire professionals to administer the driving skills test for a Class A, B, or C driver’s license and the written part of the CDL test.

Before passing  the law, it was noted that there would be “an expected minimal increase in driver license fee revenues and minimal costs to install testing terminals at these approved third party locations.” However, the need to increase state revenue to offset the costs was not identified.
