Mostly owner-operators are satisfied with freight transportation

The polling of 500 U.S. owner-operators found that the trucking industry experienced increased their satisfaction.

According to the report, about two-thirds (65%) of the owner-operators surveyed are now satisfied, and more than half (57%) said they are much more satisfied now than they were 2 years ago.

Last year, more than three-quarters (77%) of the owner-operators surveyed booked shorter routes because of rising costs, while 72% were looking for lighter cargo and 65% booked less cargo.

“We all understand that owner-operators meet a range of challenges and tasks every day,” emphasized Kendra Tucker, CEO of Truckstop.

The survey showed the most common actions that owner-operators take to elevate their motivation.

• Spend more time searching for more economical routes (66%).

• Use more technology to reduce costs (66%).

• More frequent truck maintenance to avoid costly repairs (65%).

• Join additional rewards programs (for discounts, refunds, free items, etc.) (60%).

• Use factoring (to rise cash flow) (51%).

• Nearly half of those surveyed (47%) said they spend more time looking for cheaper fuel to improve their bottom line, and 45% take on extra loads.
