Wyoming truckers are asked not to use country roads to avoid highway closures

Wyoming State Troopers are reminding truckers that using “back roads and dirt roads” to avoid interstate road closures during winter weather can have costly consequences.

On January 13, the Wyoming Highway Patrol – Commercial Carrier took to social media with the following message:

Your GPS is wrong!

These photos were taken by one of our harbor officers near Evanston, Wyoming. Commercial vehicle drivers decided it would be better to take the county roads and dirt roads around the closed interstate. Needless to say, this was a very expensive undertaking.

Never try to drive around a closed interstate during the winter. Stay up to date with all current conditions by visiting www.wyoroads.info and please drive safely.
