Texas asks drivers to prepare for tax holiday weekend

August 8, 20230

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reminded drivers to plan their trips as the annual tax-free holiday in Texas is scheduled for August 11-13.

According to a press release, some local private schools are already starting the school year.

“Typically, Texas sales tax weekends result in more than usual border crossings as locals travel to attend the annual money-saving event,” the press release said.

CBP Acting Director of Field Operations Eugene Crawford, from the Laredo field office, said CBP will monitor traffic at all times and open additional lanes as needed. He said security would also be increased in areas along the border.
