In Ohio, weighing stations converted into truck parking stops

December 10, 20220

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced the opening of two truck stops  for commercial vehicles.

On December 3, ODOT announced that “new truck parking areas are now open in Medina County on I-76 eastbound between SR 3 and SR 57 and in Ashland County on I-71 southbound between SR 539 and US 250.”

The truck stops will be able to accommodate up to 18 trucks in addition to any parking on the sides of the entry or exit. There will be no toilets.

The newly opened truck stands are part of a larger ODOT project to convert 13 weigh stations into truck stands. ODOT has completed 10 of these conversions and will start work on converting three more weighing stations next year.

Converted weigh stations include parking lots on I-77 northbound and southbound south of Bolivar and on SR 7 southbound in Jefferson County.
