FMCSA returns another ELD to the list of registered devices

December 27, 20230

On December 15, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) returned the PowerTrucks ELD to its list of registered devices.

On December 1, FMCSA placed these ELDs on the recall list, citing vendors’ failure to comply with the minimum requirements set forth in 49 CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A, which describes the functional specifications for ELDs.

Drivers who have been using PowerTrucks ELD or CI ELD Logs devices can now return to them without having to use paper logs or alternative software.

The significance of PowerTrucks ELDs being brought back to the list goes beyond individual devices. This highlights how important safety is in the trucking industry. ELDs play a critical role in enforcing regulations and enhancing overall safety measures.

As the industry evolves, maintaining high safety standards remains a top priority. Motor carriers affected by the initial recall of other ELDs are given a 60-day period during which they must use paper logs and identify suitable replacements if their devices are not restored. This highlights the important role that ELDs play in meeting safety and regulatory requirements in the trucking sector.
