Commercial vehicle enforcement starts in Arizona next week

February 19, 20230

Starting Monday, commercial vehicles will be inspected for compliance with safety rules on major Arizona highways.

“Operation Southern Shield” will take place from February 20 to 24.

The patrol will focus on I-10 from Phoenix to the New Mexico state line and I-19 from Tucson to the international border.

During the inspection, officers will identify driving violations and train drivers in the safe operation of the CMV in order to reduce the number of accidents in the above areas.

Operation South Shield will be conducted with the assistance of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the Marana Police Department, the Oro Valley Police Department, and the Tucson Police Department.

The Arizona DPS says drivers of non-commercial vehicles who drive trucks are also subject of scrutiny.
