FMCSA excludes another popular ELD device
The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration (FMCSA) has recalled another ELD electronic registration device.
On March 27, the FMCSA announced that the ELD All-Ways Track device had been added to the recall list “due to the company’s failure to meet minimum requirements.”
Carriers using ELD All-Ways Track are asked to take the following actions:
- Stop using recalled devices and return to paper logs or software to record hours of work required.
- 2. Replace recalled devices with the appropriate ELDs from the list of registered devices by May 26, 2023.
Carriers have 60 days to replace a recalled ELD. During this time, law enforcement officials are advised not to fine drivers under “Not Using a Registered ELD” and should request paper driver logs, registration software, or use the ELD All-Ways Track display as a fallback method to view driving hours data.
If the manufacturers of the ELD All-Ways Track correct the identified deficiencies, the FMCSA will re-add the ELD to the list of approved devices.
From May 26, 2023, road carriers that continue to use the ELD All-Ways Track will be considered operating without an ELD, and drivers will be fined and suspended from work (OOS), according to the FMCSA.
