200 Freightliner and Western Star trucks recalled due to malfunctions
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of 200 Daimler Trucks North America trucks.
The first recall concerns 24 Freightliner Cascadia 2022 trucks. Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) can be turned off manually.
Accordingly, trucks do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 121 “Pneumatic Brake Systems” and 136 “Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Duty Vehicles”.
Dealers will fix this feature to bring the trucks in line.

The NHTSA recall number is 22V-339.
Another 185 trucks were recalled due to inattention. Their Federal Certification labels list the Gross Axle Load Rating (GAWR) incorrectly. Such mistake can lead to overloading trucks.
Trucks affected include some Freightliner Cascadia 2020, Western Star 4700 and 5700 2020-2022, Western Star 4900 2022 and Freightliner New Cascadia 2020-2023 models.
Dealers will replace GAWR labels free of charge.
