Weekly extreme trucks` inspection starts on Monday

December 6, 20210

Since Monday, police officers from several states are joining forces to fight against careless drivers of commercial vehicles.

The “Eyes on 94” truck traffic enforcement operation will take place December 6-10, 2021 along I-94 and other major highways in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

Operation “Eyes on 94” aims to prevent accidents with truck and track down careless drivers.

Throughout the week, police will alert about violations that could contribute to an accident, including distracted driving, short distance, improper overtaking and speeding.

“This enforcement action is a great example of the commitment of Michigan State Patrol (MSP), Indiana Police, Illinois Police and Ohio Highway Patrol to our shared goal of improving road safety and reducing accidents,” said Captain Richard Arnold, Division Commander on MSP Commercial Vehicle Compliance.

“Eyes on 94” is part of a nationwide road safety campaign, “Going Zero Deaths”, which builds on the national road safety strategy to reduce road traffic deaths across the country.

Corridor I-94 near Galesburg, Michigan was the site of a historic weather-related disaster on January 9, 2015. A total of 76 trucks and 117 cars collided there, and as a result highway I-94 was shut down for 18 hours.
