USDOT allocates $1,5 billion to build new truck parking facilities

September 16, 20220

The US Department of Transportation announced a $1.5 billion grant to build an I-4 West Central Florida truck stop and 25 other infrastructure projects around the country.

Funding provided through the Infrastructure for Recovery America (INFRA) competitive grant program.

According to USDOT, the new truck stop will help address the lack of commercial parking between Tampa and Orlando.

The project will consist of a new parking lot with approximately 120 truck parking lots, electric charging stations and pedestrian infrastructure.

The facility will be connected to the Florida Department of Transportation’s truck parking system to help drivers identify available parking spaces.

“By providing reliable parking, the project reduces the truck drivers time to find commercial vehicle parking space, making supply chain movement more efficient,” USDOT writes.
