Truckers announced route of “People’s Convoy”
Truckers planning a large cross-country convoy released details of their planned route.
After several vocal truckers` protests in Ottawa and other cities of Canada, a group of American truckers started planning their own demonstration, called the “People’s Convoy”, starting later this week.
Since Wednesday, February 23, a group of truckers will begin moving out of Southern California with their final destination in Washington, DC. The leaders of the group say they are seeking to end all trucker vaccination mandates.
Organizers said the event would be “peaceful and united”.
Truckers are expected to be joined by workers, security experts and some military personnel to ensure the event remains legal and safe.
The organizers of the “People’s Convoy” issued a policy statement in which they determined the purpose of the nationwide demonstration:
The message of the “People’s Convoy” is simple. The last 23 months of the COVID-19 pandemic have been hard for all Americans: spiritually, emotionally, physically, and last but not least, financially. With a vaccine and effective therapeutics available, as well as hard work across multiple sectors that contributes to lowering of COVID-19 cases and disease severity, the time came to reopen the country. The average American worker needs to be able to overcome the economic hardships of the past two years and return to manufacturing so they can pay rent and mortgages and help start this economy.
