New border rules won’t affect truckers

February 12, 20210

After February 15, everyone who wishes to cross the Canada–United States border must show a negative COVID-19 test. However, the new rules still won`t affect truckers.

Transport Canada reported that Government of Canada requires a COVID-19 molecular test, that is valid for 72 hours. It must be taken by all travelers who enter the country by land transport.

BC Trucking Association chief Dave Earle announced that his organization and governmental institutions on both sides of the border during the last few weeks did their best to prevent extension of these new rules on truck drivers.

Dave Earle explained that driver`s cab is like a secure isolation room, where he lives during the whole trip. “Even if they leave their transport then only for a short time and being extremely careful”.

“Our government as before advises to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada,” Transport Minister Omar Alghabra claimed in the press-release.
