In Illinois drivers now can track firings on highways
The Illinois State Police unveiled a new device that can help in tracking shootings on highways across the state.
On Wednesday, the ISP presented Statewide Expressway Shooting (SES), an interactive dashboard that tracks data on reported firing incidents across all of Illinois’ big roads.
Now the SES dashboard features information on every Illinois highway shooting from 2019 to today. Users could access information about the location, date and time, the specific Illinois highway system, and whether there were reports of injuries or deaths.

“One of the main aims of the SES dashboard is to be fitty and clear, displaying the most up-to-date information about firings. The Dashboard (SES) will show specific data regarding each recorded shooting on highways throughout the state,” the ISP said in a press release.
“We want to provide this information to the general public, community stakeholders, our traffic safety partners, other first responders, and our law enforcement partners to assure them that we are committed to our mission of ensuring public safety on our expressway systems,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. “Knowing when and where these violent crimes are being committed, provides us with another tool to combating these violent and senseless crimes.”
