HOS rules to be simplified for baby formula carriers

According to Buttigieg’s statement, the US Department of Transportation is allowed to waive Hours of Service rules for drivers delivering baby formula.

On May 16, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg spoke at a briefing about the bipartisan infrastructure bill at the White House in Washington.

The possibility of phasing out HOS was announced in response to the current shortage of infant formula in the United States. According to sources, no official steps to phase out HOS have been taken yet.

“Mostly it is a matter of production, not the movement of goods. But every time we see signs that the movement of goods is becoming a limiting factor, we do our best to remove the obstacles,” Buttigieg told reporters.

The United States is facing a nationwide shortage that is leaving some parents struggling to feed their children.
