Glenwood Canyon closed indefinitely: detour routes

August 3, 20210

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) says I-70 is closing in both directions through Glenwood Canyon due to rain and flood damage.

I-70 through Glenwood Canyon is closed due to “damage to the viaduct structure unlike anything they had seen before”, triggered by a flash flood that occurred on Saturday.

Crews continue to assess the damage from damage and clear debris.

There is no estimated time for I-70 to reopen. CDOT recommends trucks use I-80 through Wyoming.
