FMCSA is searching for employees for “Women of Trucking Advisory Board”

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is looking for people who wish to join a new advisory council that will bring more women into the trucking industry.

FMCSA announced that the Women of Trucking Advisory Board (WOTAB) is going to coordinate its efforts with trucking companies, non-profit organizations and trucking associations to support and improve the women’s work in the trucking industry.

The Board will give advice to the FMCSA Administrator and the US Secretary of Transportation, as well as advancing the role of women and increasing the number of women in the trucking industry, assessing trends and opportunities for female drivers, and providing education and safety advice.

FMCSA announced the formation of the WOTAB on March 17, 2022.

«We are proud to create the Women of Trucking Advisory Board that will work with drivers and trucking companies to help remove the barriers that prevent women from working and staying in the trucking industry,» said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. «This advisory council is the main part of our Trucking Action Plan, which is focused on improving quality of truckers and engaging more people into their ranks.»

WOTAB will include at least eight members from different population groups, including:

• Women representing small, medium and large trucking companies, non-profit organizations in the trucking industry;

• Association of motor transport enterprises;

• Independent owner-operators and professional truck drivers;

• Higher education institution or driving schools.
