Some ELDs are not FMCSA certified and will be withdrawn

June 25, 20220

On Friday, the FMCSA added the ArionT ELD to the list of recalled devices.

An Electronic Logging Device (ELD) is a part of equipment connected to a commercial vehicle to monitor the driver’s working hours.

ELD records driver activities and updates logs in the control center to provide reliable data on driving hours, rest, risk of violation, speed level, location and possible time of arrival.

On June 24, ArionT ELD was withdrawn “due to the company’s failure to meet minimum requirements.” Anyone who has used this device must replace it by August 24, 2022.

According to the FMCSA, all ArionT ELD users must take the following steps:

  1. Stop using the recalled devices and return to paper logs or software to record required service hours.
  2. 2. Replace recalled devices with the correct ELDs from the list of registered devices by August 24, 2022.

Carriers have a 60-day grace period to replace a recalled device with a compatible device. Starting August 24, all motor carriers that continue to use the ArionT ELD will be decommissioned.
