Positive changes are coming in the truck driving life

December 9, 20220

According to a report by supply chain executives, the number of available vehicles continues to grow rapidly, while their prices are swiftly declining.

For example, in November, the amount of available transport exceeded the historical maximum by 2%.

At the same time, the average cost of owning and operating a car in 2022 is up about 11% year on year to $10728 a year (little less $900 a month). The report took into account costs such as fuel, amortization, insurance and maintenance to define total annual operating expenses.

Is the future of cargo transportation in electric trucks?

A research published by the US Department of National Renewable Energy Laboratory shows that continuous improvements in vehicle and fuel technology will enable green trucks to become cheaper and more affordable over the next decade.

Today, medium- and heavy-duty trucks account for less than 5% of vehicles on the road, but generate more than 20% of emissions in the transportation sector, which currently accounts for more than one-third of US greenhouse gas emissions.

Moreover, according to all forecasts, by 2030 every third new truck will operate on electric traction, and by 2035 such vehicles will become dominant: their share in sales will exceed 70%.

Now the cost of electric trucks is higher, very soon you can buy, operate and maintain them much cheaper than diesel ones.

Truck drivers are still very popular in the USA

Even a quick glance at the map is enough to understand how much the American economy depends on vehicle drivers. There are approximately 3.5 million truckers in the United States, according to the American Trucking Association.

It is important to note that the truck drivers are always well motivated. Moreover, they do not need to have any degree.

To drive a commercial truck, whether it is a diesel truck or an electric one, it is enough to have a CDL – a document allowing you to operate the truck. Certain institutions offer their visitors online option.
