The Kansas Department of Transportation released an app for Android and iOS mobile phones.

According to a press release, it has a mode for truckers and an option to search for parking on truck stops. KanDrive provides drivers with detailed information about maintenance and construction work, road conditions in winter weather, road flooding and accidents affecting traffic across the state.

The app includes all the features of an account on the KanDrive website and a hands-free feature that announces upcoming traffic events while traveling. The app also offers real-time, high quality camera feeds across the state.

“Drivers need to have fast, accurate, and up-to-date information about road conditions in Kansas,” said Kevin Hennes, KDOT administrator for KanDrive. “The new KanDrive app is a handy option to help you travel safely and stay up to date.”

The Kansas 511 phone system were also upgraded and simplified for people who prefer real-time highway information by calling 511.

KDOT says the app’s voice quality and speech recognition features were improved, and drivers can request route-specific reports.
