FMCSA recalls another ELD device
The Federal Highway Transportation Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed another electronic registration device (ELD) from its list of registered devices.
FMCSA said in an email that the Nationwide ELD device from Nationwide Technologies Inc. has been removed from the list from which truck drivers and carriers can select ELD.
Model number is NWTELDV1.1, identification code is NWT001ELD. Nationwide is removed from the list “due to the company’s failure to comply with the minimum requirements set forth in 49 CFR Part 395 Subpart B Appendix A”.
Truckers and drivers using a Nationwide device must:
• Stop using recalled devices and return to paper logs or software to record hours of work required.
• Replace recalled devices with matching ELDs from the list of registered devices by April 4th.
Truckers and drivers who continue to use the recalled device from April 4 onwards will be suspended from work.
If the ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies, the FMCSA will return the device to the list of registered devices and inform the industry.
