November 9, 20210

Some TravelCenters of America (TA) have restricted diesel sales due to market supply issues.

According to the TA website, the following locations are limiting diesel fuel purchases to 60 gallons:

  • TA Gallup, NM: Please use Petro Milan, I-40, Exit 79 as an alternate fueling location.
  • TA Santa Rosa, NM: Please use TA Albuquerque, I-40, Exit 159A (east) or 159D (west), I-25 Exit 225 (north) or 227 (south), as an alternate fueling location.
  • TA Moriarty, NM: Please use TA Albuquerque, I-40, Exit 159A (east) or 159D (west), I-25 Exit 225 (north) or 227 (south), as an alternate fueling location.
  • TA Holbrook, AZ: Please use Petro Milan, NM, I-40, Exit 79, as an alternate fueling location.

The list of locations was last updated at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 8.

Fuel supply issues have been an area of concern in 2021. In May, a ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline by the hacker group DarkSide put fuel in short supply in several states and prompted the FMCSA to issue an emergency declaration in an effort to speed up fuel deliveries.

In the first half of the year, several states warned of intermittent fuel shortages. First of all, it was due to the lack of tanker truck drivers for fuel transportation.
